ABOUT MEI am an illustrator based out of Roanoke, VA, who lives in a small house surrounded by catbirds, daffodils, and bamboo. I specialize in delicately detailed biological illustrations and whimsical, watercolor children's illustrations. When I'm not busy making a mess in my studio, I am often birding in the Blue Ridge Mountains, transforming my yard into a wild garden, and rock climbing. I hope that my illustrations will inspire others to explore the world around them and find what speaks to them, whether it's searching for birds and bugs, wandering in the mountains, or swimming in the ocean.
I grew up in Lexington, VA where I spent much of my childhood playing in creeks and cow fields, coloring in my tree house, and joining my parents on yearly Christmas Bird Counts. I received an MFA in Children's Book Writing & Illustrating from Hollins University in 2019 and a BFA in Drawing from Guilford College in 2009. |
