About Lucinda
I am an artist based out of Roanoke, VA living in a small house surrounded by catbirds, columbine, and maple trees. I specialize in delicately detailed biological illustrations with a particular fondness towards birds and insects. When I'm not busy in my studio, I am often birding up and down the Blue Ridge Mountains, transforming my yard into a wild garden, and hiking with my dog. I hope that my art will inspire others to explore the world around them and find what speaks to them, whether it's searching for birds, wandering in the mountains, or planting flowers for bugs and bees.
I grew up in Lexington, VA where I spent much of my childhood playing in creeks and cow fields, coloring in my tree house, and joining my parents on yearly Christmas Bird Counts (which I still do!). I received an MFA in Children's Book Writing & Illustrating from Hollins University and a BFA in Drawing from Guilford College. I have taught at Radford University and am a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society.
