I'm not going to lie, I love traditional art. I love the feel of the paper, I love manually making the stroke of the paint brush and I love mixing my own colors. However, that being said, I recognize that I need to know at least a little bit about Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. So this winter/spring I've been taking a class, Intro to Graphic Skills, at a local community college in order to learn the basics.
My professor's way of showing us how to use the programs is by having us literally draw within them. The first assignment was to draw, on paper (thankfully!), our own Superhero. My Superhero I named the Ornery Owl. We then scanned our drawing into to Adobe Illustrator where we transformed it into a vector drawing and used the live paint bucket to color it. It was actually a lot of fun.
After that, we took our vector drawing and placed it in Photoshop on a photograph. I grabbed this forest scene straight out of google for my assignment. Again, pretty darn nifty!
I'm excited to learn whatever's next!
